Dr. Anne Shadle is a graduate of the University of Nebraska, where she earned her B.S. in Exercise Science. During her undergraduate career, Shadle was a member of the Huskers’ national powerhouse track and field team. She was an NCAA National Champion in both the indoor mile and the outdoor 1500 meters, a two-time All-American, a three-time Big 12 Champion, an eight-time All Big 12 Conference Team member, a four-time Big 12 All-Academic Team member, and still holds three Nebraska school records. Following graduation, Shadle ran three years professionally for Reebok and competed in the 2008 Olympic Trials.  Throughout her high school career, Shadle trained under the Bigger, Faster, Stronger model which she believes helped her not only stay healthy throughout her career but also gave her the foundation for building her athletic career.

Shadle went on to earn her Masters Degree from the University of Missouri in Counseling Psychology. She also earned her Ph.D. in Health Education with emphasis in Sport Psychology. Her research focus is understanding the psycho-emotional challenges, preparations and responses of Olympic Gold Medal-winning athletes.

Shadle has taught an undergraduate course in the College of Education in the Psychological Perspectives of Sport, has co-taught a Masters level Sport Psychology course, has taught a Masters level Applied Sport Psychology course, and has developed a Gender Issues in Sport course for the College’s Online Masters Degree in Positive Coaching. She served as an intern with Dr. Rick McGuire in Missouri’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics’ Sport Psychology Program, working specifically with various sport teams. She helped to create the leadership team for the Department’s “Women For Women” initiative; a program focused on encouraging and empowering female student athletes. Shadle has also served as an event leader for the USA Track and Field Athletes Advisory Committee since 2007.  Shadle currently lives in San Diego where she is a performance consultant and educator.
