Says Lindsay, When I was in high school the football coach was an avid reader of Bigger Faster Stronger magazine, and his weight training program was a product of what he had read. He helped my high school track coach work out a program baed on what he had learned from BFS. At present, both women have progressed to the level where they can power clean 190 pounds; Lindsay can full squat 250, whereas Brenda can full squat 280 and parallel squat 350.
While in high school the twins had received recruiting offers from many colleges with strong track programs. They had assumed they would be going to one of these colleges, but after high school they decided on Ivy League universities instead. They made exceptional choices.
I wanted to pursue a degree in cognitive neuroscience, and I knew that my textbooks would be written by my professors. On my visit to Harvard, I was asking questions of persons who were on the cutting edge of the research they were doing---I was really drawn to that, says Brenda. When I visited, the thing that people kept telling me was, You ll have new roomates, and every day you ll learn something amazing that they ve done. And I just thought that would be one of the greatest things I could get out of college---the interaction with so many incredible people. You can be inspired so much by their energy.
Lindsay majored in mechanical engineering. I decided in high school that I wanted a degree in engineering so that I could pursue a career in prosthetic design. I figured that if I took an athletic scholarship, I would be forced to focus primarily on track. Engineering is a very difficult major, so my first thought was to find an enginering program that suied me, and then make my final choice based on the school s athletic program. Another important consideration was that my parents have always encouraged Brenda and me to pursue an academic career above all else, so when the opportunity to attend an Ivyom last year, Anderson says the major difference after the season was in striving to increase the intensity of his workouts.

Rushing Forward

At the time of this writing, Northwestern has won five of six games, including a 27-26 thriller over Michigan State that involved three lead changes in the last 30 seconds.
Anderson has been keeping his Heisman hopes alive, rushing for 595 yards, which included a team record of four touchdowns in the school s second game with Duke. And with a veteran offensive line to keep the opposing defenseen at bay and a quality senior quarterback in Zak Kustok, you can expect more big numbers from Anderson along with more W s for the team.
When asked what advicehe would give high school running backs trying to emulate his accomplishments, Anderson stressed dedication to goals. I went from the best high school program in Illinois to probably one of the worst when my family moved, and I was faced with a lot of adversity then, explains Anderson. But we turned the whole program around, and then when we played on Fridays the whole town practically shut dow. Even as Damien Anderson looks toward his own promising career in the NFL, his veteran advice is to stay focused, and find ways to continually motivate yourself. You just have to want it - you need that inner drive to be successful.
Drive on, Damien!

_______________

Damien has a great work ethic, He leads by example and he s very coachable. Even with all of the Heisman hype he continues to work hard. I wish we had more like him.
Larry Lilja, Northwestern Head Strength Coaches, and he passed the 100-yard game standard seven times. He led the NFL with 72 first downs receiving, and became only the sixth Cardinal to make consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons. In the P-<w+ҦhU(d#^9앢*cjbVٜ@_J'rb[cdضʱX2
