Therefore, the feet will pop out slightly when you land. The Athletic Sance is a "ready position" used in many sports. Think of a shortsto, a line-backer, a defensive basketball player or a tennis player. I want an athlete to practice landing and balancing himself with a weight from this athletic stance. Both Matt and Danelle have landed in a perfect Athletic Stance.&nbsp;</P> <P>Photo #6 shows a happy Coach Kirkman with Matt in a perfect jump position and Danelle racking the dowel perfectly from an Athletic Stance.&nbsp;</P> <P><STRONG>THE FIFTH STEP:</STRONG> Using the bar from the floor, teach the starting position. Look at Danelle in Photo #7. She is in a Jump Stance with hips down, elbows locked and wrists slightly rolled forward. Danelle is using the Aluma-Lite Bar with the BFS 10-pound Bumper Plates. The deal starting point is about two-inches above parallel. Sometimes the tall, skinny athlete needs a higher level in order to get his technique correct. The same is often true with the over-fat younger athlete. The bottom line is control. If the athlete can t control his downward movement without plopping, then simply raise the box. <br>Normally, I l the weightoom. Coach Grady enthusiatically stated,  their improvement carried over to the playing field as we went 10-1 this year. We won the Vermont Division I league title and the Vermont Division I State Championship. We also placed 9 players on the 1st team Division I All-State and 2 more n the 2nd tea. The oustanding gains they attained in the off-season, and continued with hroughout he in-season, elevated them to a level in which they were able to beat shools with 7 times their enrollmen.
