To get into the playoffs and thereby reverse their unwanted tradition, the Indians needed to finish the regular season with a victory over Oberlin High School. <br>And did they ever. Led by Jordan Vickers with 148 rushing yards and two TDs, the Hoxie Indians ran over Oberlin, 50-8. The outcome was never in question, as the team led 44-0 halfway through the third quarter. This victory was followed by two dominating wins in the Class 2A playoffs, 42-12 against Osborne, and then 52-6 against Meade. Their miracle season ended with a 40-30 loss to Garden Plain, which went on to play in the finals. <br>The Indians finished the season 9-3, ranking them fifth in the state. Offensive leaders for the Indians included Doug Campbell, Jordan Vickers and Mat Gilliland, with 1507, 1484 and 1063 yards respectively.<br> After such a year, Coach Dick Heskett and his Indians have a lot to be proud of. Who knows, maybe next year the wrestlers at Hoxie High School will find themselves drawing inspiration from the football team. 0&nbsp;Total.&nbsp; He set all the National marks in the newly established 319 lb.&nbsp;weight class.&nbsp; Ahmaud closed out his brilliant high school career when he became the first Pennsylvania high school student to total 1,800 lbs.&nbsp;as he won the Pennsylvania State High School Championships.&nbsp; Ahmaud totaled 1,850 lbs.&nbsp;at this meet.&nbsp; It is believed that Marcus Henry and Ahmaud McDonald may be the only two drug-free lifters to total over 1,800 lbs. in the history of high school Powerlifting.</P> <P>Ahmaud was a 2nd team All-State Football player.&nbsp; He played in the prestigious Big 33 Footbalontana bound sprinter who has laid claim to ten individual state championship titles and was a member of Malta s winning 400-meter relay team in 1998! Head Track coach, Tad Shye, commented that he hasn t seen anyone better in his eight years of coaching the M-ettes.  She s established herself, for this decade, anyway, as the premier track athlete in this state. Altogether, in the last three state meets Guilfoyle has scored 122 points. All her hard work on the BFS program has paid off. So what is the secret to her blazing speed? One secret is explosive weight training. Guilfoyle has squatted 205 pounds in the gym for a max.<br>In the field events, LeeAnn Pekovitch also played a large role in the M-ettes victory. She won the state championship title in the discus and placed second in both the javelin and shot put. <br><br>FOOTBALL<br><br>Head football coach, Scott King, has much to be proud of. Out of 130 games played while coaching at Malta High, his ferocious Mustangs have been victorious 104 times. The Mustangs have won two state championships, earned a 2nd place, and made it to the semi-finals three years. Out of 214 students at Malta High School, 80 turned out for football this last fall. The mustangs have found out how to win and not very many kids want to miss out on it. <br>Malta s football season was filled with exciting moments, as they fought their way to capture the state crown.
