The computer is sound activated so when the coach yells GO or blows his whistle, the time starts; and when the runner finally steps on the mat at the finish line, the time stops.
A feature we found impressive in this mode was it s ability to compensate for the time it takes the sound of the coach s voice (or his whistle, etc.) at the finish line, to reach the runner at the starting line.
The Just Jump or Run allows for a more accurate time in two ways. First, of course, is the elimination of the sound-wave, travel-time discrepancy and second, the elimination of human error due to the reaction time it takes for the coach to stop a conventional timer.
It is quite simple to use the Just Jump or Run for timing sprints (see illustration 3). First you need to measure the desired distance of the run (40 yards for example). Second, place the computer and mat at the finish line. Third, enter the distance of the run into the computer (this must be done in feet, so if you have 40 yards you would enter 120 feet). Now, once the runner is set, yell GO or blow your whistle and wait for the runner to finish by stepping on the mat.

CONCLUSION

The Just Jump or Run is not just limited to the ideas presented in this article. You can make up endless drills and tests to use with it.
Because of it s versatility along with it s accuracy and efficiency, the Just Jump or Run is a great buy. t in the weight room and training field, but no one talks about training their minds. When someone says this perso can t compete, you have to ask how he or she has trained. If there isn t some mental training going on, there s a problem. I think that kids are not really prepared these days.
When developing a strong mental attitude you have to be constant. You need to ammer them about the mental aspect so mch that when they get to a meet they re so ick of hearing it they ll do anythingjust to shu you up!
The mindset I work toward is nothing mattersexcept performing well. You perform; afterwards we talk about the problem. If a shoe flies off in the middle of a run, it doesn t matter. You need to eliminate all the worry over any of the things we cannot control at the moment. You need one goal, and that is to compete well. Everything else can be taken care of after.
Randy wo trained side-by-side with the men, not only training with them and following the same diet but also eventually taking the same drugs. The wome became freaks, just like the men. They didn t know that steroids have a permanent effecton women because they don t on men. Women bodybuilders paid a terrible price for this knowledge. They also lost sight of any sociological impact they might have had and became like the men, obsessed about their own egos and muscle size. What choice did they have? they couldn t go back to being feminine. The public withdrew their suppor aren t generally as single-minded as men. Many see a career and/or family in their future, not sports. Like Dana, many come without the testosterone-driven aspiration to be the best and beat out all competition at all cost. As ith Dana, developing talent takespatience, a virtue that is becoming increasingly valuable i coaching women athletes.
Coach Ziraldo and Dana s story are about real people--notthe superstar athletes that will go on to set Olympic records, but the people who still experience athletic events the way they were meant to be--as a souce of personal accomplishment; as a strength and conditioning program for the mind and body; and as n exhilarating and fun pastime that includes teammates and camaraderie.
On the coaching level it s a reminder that every athlete can benefit from a coac [Ϣ?Bsbyo>יplfYD!%yp}6ڏD͊c*C>g?32K*p~6ON9>JT}_UyK^>+'˧UJZE?yDO'N]{ {&(J?W_)Sƹ7͐K>gJH?3S|O?Nb')=+Miz6*<_??FGā1ߧ0k(5͊ߘoƹ_2;yJ16*6ԣ1]+_crs`42kG PD3J%q^gӬbG|bW?478K1E%7G@j8^go㝗ߙ ߬gsF7UٳfWG%.U'ԮXJ`U+@8u4J-4Tv)W|𯳿+|OU ,r}rvTVw4U=-^o m$@PhMAO9
