Now some of us who are more religious than others might tend to think she didn't lift the car, but the good Lord probably sent angels down to lift it. Either way, does it really matter? She accomplished her task, didn't she? What difference does it make whether her mind exercised total power over her body and made herself lift the car, or the Lord really did intervene. Both sides hold the same amount of weight. Her mind was so powerful, she totally believed, without a doubt, that it would be done, and it was.<br>Athletes constantly cry out for that little extra added effort, to help make the touchdown, or score the winning point. The line between success and failure is most often so fine we don't realize it.<br>In order for an athlete to reach their Upper Limit, one must learn to control the flesh and let the mind be in total control. Think of how much more pleasant the world would be, if every one could master this. There would be no illegitimate children, murder or rape. Easier said than done, right? The first step that needs to be taken to accomplish this goal, is to start practicing mental domination over the flesh. For example, athletes can start by saying, I'm going to do three forced reps after I fail on the Squat, or any other strenuous activity. <br> The last three or four reps is what makes the muscle grow. This area of pain divides the champio training and puts considerable time into developing his programs. He divides his training into 12-week cycles, which are broken down further into 4-week cycles. For the discus, he has Suzy concentrate on the power snatch and the power clean, the push press and the push jerk, the incline bench press (which he prefers over the flat bench press because of the angle of the release of the discus), and of course squats. Says Coach McBride,  If you want to be a great athlete, you have to clean and squat. <br>When asked about the differences in training male and female athletes, Coach McBride replied,  That s a challenging question. Physiologically, women have relatively longer feurs (upper thigh bone), so their squatting techniques tend to be a little bit different, but that s a minor point. I really don t look at our athletes much differently. I treat every athlete fairly and as an individual, which means some athletes need a kick in the butt and some need an arm around the shoulder. The media focus less on human interest stories and more on the straight meet.
